Couples Therapy

Rebuild Trust and Reconnect: Imago Relationship Therapy in Maryland & D.C.

Move past repetitive arguments and learn a structured, compassionate way to talk to your partner without walking on eggshells.

Does Your Relationship Feel Like a Power Struggle?

When you first fell in love, connection felt effortless. But over time, old wounds, life stressors, and everyday exhaustion can cause couples to drift apart or fall into painful, repetitive patterns.

You might find yourself:

  • Having the same argument over and over without ever reaching a resolution.

  • Walking on eggshells, keeping your feelings to yourself to avoid triggering a conflict.

  • Feeling lonely or disconnected, even when sitting in the same room.

If you are stuck in a cycle of criticism and withdrawal, please know that conflict isn't a sign that your relationship is failing—it's a sign that growth is trying to happen.

What is Imago Relationship Therapy?

Imago Therapy is a highly structured, trauma-informed approach that shifts couples out of defensive reactions and into deep emotional safety. The word "Imago" is Latin for image. It refers to the unconscious blueprint of love we form in childhood based on our earliest caregivers.

Often, we unconsciously choose partners who reflect both the positive and negative traits of our childhood environment. When conflicts arise, it is usually because our partner has unintentionally stepped on an old, unhealed wound.

Instead of treating conflict as a roadblock, Imago views it as a sacred opportunity to heal together.

A Specialized Approach for Your Unique Journey

In our sessions, I won't just sit back and judge who is "right" or "wrong." Instead, I act as a facilitator, teaching you a powerful, structured communication tool.

As an Imago-trained clinician who also specializes in Internal Family Systems (IFS), I offer a unique depth to couples work. We don't just look at the dynamic between you and your spouse; we also honor the individual, protective "parts" of you that step in when you feel threatened or hurt.

This approach is highly collaborative, gentle, and structured. It is particularly supportive for:

  • High-stress couples looking for practical tools to use at home immediately.

  • Military couples navigating the unique strain of transitions, deployments, and hyper-vigilance.

  • Faith-sensitive and Catholic couples looking for a therapeutic framework that
